Adam Scott has become just the second Australian to be the world golf number one after the new rankings were released today.
After 60 weeks at the top, a back injury has kept Tiger Woods out of the game since before the Masters, which resulted in Scott taking over the mantle as the world’s top golfer.
Ever since he first came onto the scene, many have said that the Australian would one day be on top of the mountain due to his natural talent.
With the announcement, the Chief Executive of the PGA of Australia Brian Thorburn was full of praise for Scott.
“This is another outstanding achievement for Adam Scott.
“The Australian golfing community is very proud of Adam and we look forward to watching his progress throughout the year,” said Thorburn.
Scott will be back in action this weekend, as he will play his first tournament as the world number one.
