Australian cyclist Richie Porte further enhanced his credentials for a crack at the Tour de France yellow jersey after claiming his second Paris-Nice title over night.
Heading into the final stage which was a time trial, Porte faced a 36 second deficit behind the leader, France’s Tony Gallopin.
Just like when his fellow Australian Cadel Evans claimed his Tour de France title thanks to a great time trial performance, Porte flew around the 9.6km circuit.
The Team Sky rider did enough to claim victory of the tour, by 30 seconds over the second placed rider.
The win extends Porte’s lead a the top of the world tour rankings, ahead of fellow Australian Rohan Dennis.
