Pakistan continued their form resurgence in the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup with a 129-run victory over the U.A.E in Napier today.
Coming off their first win against Ireland, Pakistan continued on with their momentum today to record a simple victory.
Batting first, Ahmed Shehzad and Haris Sohail (70) shook off the early dismissal of Nasir Jamshed (4) to put on a 160-second wicket partnership.
Shehzad was unfortunately run out for 93 in the 35th over, but this brought their in form skipper Misbah-ul-Haq to the crease and he relished the opportunity blasting his way to 65 off just 49 balls.
Asanka Guruge starred for the U.A.E with ball taking 4/56, but despite his best efforts he couldn’t contain Pakistan as they finished with a score of 6/339.
From ball one it looked as if the U.A.E were going to struggle with the run chase due to the strong pace barrage coming from the Pakistan attack.
Sohail Khan (2/54) was important early taking a couple of crucial wickets, while veteran leg-spinner Shahid Afridi (2/35) chipped in with the crucial wicket of Shaiman Anwar for 62.
While they weren’t bowled out, the U.A.E were well short of the required total finishing at 8/210 from their overs.
The win moves Pakistan further up the Pool B ladder, while the U.A.E are stuck at the bottom still looking for their first win.
