South Australian cricket legend Jamie Siddons will return to the Adelaide Oval to take control as the new coach of the Redbacks in the Sheffield Shield and One Day competition.
After parting ways with their former coach Darren Berry, the SACA began its search for a new mentor to look after its young and talented list.
While former Test star and Redbacks champion Jason Gillespie was the sentimental favourite for the job, his commitments with Yorkshire meant that he was only able to sign on as the new Adelaide Strikers coach.
Siddons will step into the role after spending time as the coach of the Wellington Firebirds in New Zealand’s domestic league, while he also spent time coaching Bangladesh in 2011.
The former Redbacks captain said that he is excited about getting in and getting his hands on the talented squad.
“I’m excited about the list, especially some of the talented young players, and I can’t wait to get started.”
Siddons will take charge when the Redbacks begin heir pre-season training in June.
