The Newcastle Knights have decided enough is enough and have fired their head coach Rick Stone effective immediately.
A sizeable loss to the Rabbitohs over the weekend proved the final straw for the Knights hierarchy who decided to terminate Stone’s contract with them today.
Stepping into the role after the sudden departure of Wayne Bennett to the Broncos, the Knights began the 2015 season strongly under Stone.
After sitting on top of the ladder early in the season, things soon went down hill for the men from Newcastle.
The Knights would go on to lose 12 of their next 18 matches to plummet to 14th on the ladder currently.
Club legend Danny Buderus will take charge of the side for the remainder of the season as the club seeks a permanent coach to replace Stone.
