Usman Khawaja has all but ended any fears over his fitness for the Boxing Day Test with a blistering century for the Sydney Thunder last night.
While it was only a Twenty/20, Khawaja looked to get through the match unscathed which will put smiles on the faces of the national selectors.
Khawaja’s dream summer was thrown into disarray at the WACA last month when he tore his hamstring in the field.
With the Sheffield Shield season on a break for the Big Bash, Khawaja was always destined to have just one chance to prove his fitness for Boxing Day and that he did in the Thunder’s win over the Melbourne Stars.
With Khawaja’s return on Boxing Day seemingly inevitable the selectors will have to decide whether to drop first test centurion Shaun Marsh or opener Joe Burns.
