Important Questions ahead of the NFL Draft

Do the Cleveland Browns take a quarterback with the #2 Pick?

Short answer, yes. The Browns need to get this pick right if they want to start Coach Hue Jackson’s era in Cleveland the right way. Long answer, maybe. By picking up Robert Griffin III they have actually reduced the position from being a desperate need to one where you could go best player available and pick up another good QB later and groom him for success and an eventual take over later.

What does it cost to move up to #1 overall?

The Tennessee Titans have said that they expect “a kings ransom” for the #1 overall pick. They may just get it as there have been numerous reports that multiple teams are enquiring what it will take. This is a pick that holds great power. You can help mould your team for the future or in the Titans case, protect your franchise QB for years to come.

Will the Cowboys, 49ers or Rams make a bold move?

Dallas could be bold take a potential QB to back up Tony Romo or they could rebuild that defence and hope that Romo can hold out for a few more years. San Francisco and Los Angeles are both in the market for a QB as well. LA wants to make a splash in their first year back in the market and Coach Chip Kelly wants to get his own quarterback that he can mould in his own image. Both teams could make a bold move and potentially jump up to that number 1 spot and pay whatever ransom the Titans are asking for.

Will we see a run on Wide Receivers late in the first round?

The Houston Texans, Minnesota Vikings, Cincinnati Bengals all need young wide outs to help them take control of their respective divisions. However, all of these teams also have glaring needs on defence. Once one of these WR’s comes off the board, we could see teams leap frogging each other in an attempt to get the best one available.

The Draft is one of the most exciting times for the league. Youngsters are all starry eyed and everyone is full of hope. You learn a lot about these young men as they search for their dreams. This year we can expect a lot of movement in the first round. There is probably around 8 outstanding, elite players that teams will be clamouring over and potentially willing to give up a lot in the belief that is the move to change their fortunes.

All these questions will be answer in 16 days.
