Australian Orica-Greenedge rider Simon Gerrans has won the Tour Down Under, wearing the Ochre Jersey for most of the event.
Gerrans now holds the record for the most Tour Down Under wins, this victory is his third.
Lotto-Belisol’s Andre Greipel won the last stage of the Tour Down Under in a sprint finish, his 16th Tour Down Under stage win.
As Griepel celebrated the win as he crossed the line, Gerrans was seen just a few metres behind celebrating his overall victory.
Gerrans finished just shy of the top ten in today’s stage but crossed the line far enough in front of Cadel Evans to retain the Ochre Jersey.
After almost 20 hours of riding over the week, Gerrans finished just seconds in front of fellow stage winners Evans and Diego Ulissi.
766,000 people attended the event, a record attendance for the Tour Down Under.
